Structure Glass Elevators installation

Structure Glass Elevators

Self-supporting glass shafts that turn vertical movement into an architectural feature.

Overview

About Structure Glass Elevators

A structure glass elevator carries its own shaft. Instead of running inside a concrete core, the car travels within a self-supporting steel structure clad in toughened laminated glass, so the movement of the lift stays visible from the floor of the atrium to the roof. It is the natural choice where a building has light and volume worth showing off.

Because the structure is fabricated rather than cast, a glass lift can be added to a building that was never designed for one. We regularly install into existing showrooms, banking halls and hotel atriums where breaking a new concrete shaft would be disruptive or structurally impossible. The steel frame is bolted to the slab edges, and the glazing is fitted last, once the guide rails are aligned.

Glazing is specified for safety before appearance. Every panel is toughened and laminated, so a damaged pane holds together in its interlayer rather than falling into the space below. On elevations that catch direct sun we specify a solar-control interlayer, which keeps cabin temperatures manageable through a Punjab summer without resorting to a heavily tinted glass that would defeat the purpose of a panoramic lift.

The mechanical package is the same proven gearless traction equipment used across our passenger range, tuned for the lower speeds typical of a low-rise panoramic installation. For two- and three-stop projects a hydraulic drive is often the better answer: it needs no overhead machine space at all, which keeps the top of the glass structure clean and uninterrupted.
